2019 Liv Zak Rosé
Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc
ORIGIN OF VARIETAL
Soft and crisp and refreshing, there’s plenty of light red fruits balanced with a savour herbal spice adding complexity. It has a lovely weight and texture, all balanced along a crisp line of acidity.
Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc were early hand-picked and pressed out immediately for a natural ferment in seasoned French oak 228L barriques. Once dry, the wine spent another 10 months on gross lees in barrel maturing and building mouthfeel and complexity.

Rosé is having a moment, actually, make that a big moment. It’s finally getting the kind of serious treatment it deserves and the results include plenty of stunners like this.
A blend of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc, the rose colour is a huge part of its attraction, the striking orange-pink, tea rose hue capturing the eye. Dusty, earthy cabernet notes with black cherry, peony/rose petal floral aromatics.
It is a deeply expressive rose, almost red wine like, with none of the confection notes you sometimes see. The cabernet family doesn’t tend to go down that route; it’s definitely dry, earthy and, in this instance, with a textural smoothness. Jeni Port
